Civil CAD Designer (International Contractor)
Remote · Contract · $15 to $25 an hour
Why this role exists
MES designs site civil and utility plans in Texas: commercial site developments, battery energy storage sites, water and ice kiosk sites, and wastewater plants. Our engineers mark up the design. You turn it into clean Civil 3D plan sheets that go to cities and counties for permit. We need designers whose sheets come back from engineering review with few comments, so our PEs spend their time on decisions, not drafting cleanup.
You'll be perfect for this role if:
- You have used AutoCAD Civil 3D for 3+ years on US civil site or utility projects
- You read US engineering markups and city design standards without hand-holding
- You write clear English and answer questions promptly during US Central business hours
- You are comfortable using AI to draft, structure and check work, and you own what you hand in
- You work on your own between check-ins and ask a precise question when something is missing
What success looks like
- First 2 weeks: MES CAD standards and templates learned. First production sheet accepted with minor revisions.
- Day 30: 3 to 5 sheets a week to MES standards, with revision cycles under 2 rounds.
- Day 60: A regular on active projects. Project managers ask for you by name.
Key responsibilities
- Produce Civil 3D plan sheets from engineer markups: site layout, grading, drainage, utilities and erosion control
- Build surfaces, alignments, profiles and pipe networks that match the design intent
- Keep every sheet to MES CAD standards: layers, text styles, title blocks and sheet setup
- Turn revision comments around in writing through the MES Tool
- Flag missing information or conflicts early, not at submittal
How we work
MES is fully remote. You work in writing through the MES Tool, with a daily check-in window with the US team. Every MES candidate completes a paid sample test on a real project problem before any offer. For this role it is one production sheet from a closed project, scoped to 3 to 4 hours, paid at $20 per hour on submission whatever the outcome.
Compensation
- $15 to $25 per hour (USD), based on experience
- Paid through Wise, Deel or Payoneer
- International contractor agreement, no W2 benefits
Reports to: the project manager on each project, with daily coordination through the Operations Team Leader.
