AutoCAD AI Automation Developer (Python), International Contractor

Remote · Contract

Why this role exists

MES designs site civil and utility plans in Texas: commercial site developments, battery energy storage sites, water and ice kiosk sites, and wastewater plants. We are building an AI engine that drives AutoCAD Civil 3D, so engineer markups and design decisions become plan sheets with far less manual drafting. We need a Python developer to build that engine with us: the scripts, the Civil 3D automation and the checks that make its output reliable enough to submit for permit.

You'll be perfect for this role if:

  • You write production Python and have automated AutoCAD or Civil 3D before
  • You understand Civil 3D objects: surfaces, alignments, profiles, pipe networks, labels and sheet setup
  • You have connected an AI model or API to a real tool, and you know where it fails
  • You write clear English and answer questions promptly during US Central business hours
  • You work on your own between check-ins and ask a precise question when something is missing

What success looks like

  • First 2 weeks: the engine's code and MES CAD standards learned. First automation merged and in use.
  • Day 30: you own a piece of the engine end to end, with tests, and engineers use it on live projects.
  • Day 60: the engine handles a full sheet type from markup to finished sheet, and you are proposing the next one.

Key responsibilities

  • Build and maintain Python automation for AutoCAD Civil 3D (COM, the .NET API through pythonnet, or Dynamo)
  • Connect Civil 3D steps to the AI engine so drawings are produced and checked with less manual work
  • Turn engineer requests into tested, documented tools the team can use without you
  • Keep output to MES CAD standards: layers, text styles, title blocks and sheet setup
  • Flag limits and failure cases early, in writing

How we work

MES is fully remote. You work in writing through the MES Tool, with a daily check-in window with the US team. Every MES candidate completes a paid sample test on a real problem before any offer. For this role it is a small Civil 3D automation task.

Compensation

  • Month-to-month international contractor agreement, full-time effort expected
  • Paid through Wise, Deel or Payoneer
  • No W2 benefits

Reports to: Mike Groselle, CEO.

  • Fluent written English
  • Reliable internet and at least 4 hours a day of overlap with US Central business hours

Preferred
