Project

10-inch waterline extension for commercial growth in Elizabeth, CO

About 4,600 feet of new 10-inch HDPE waterline supports expanding commercial and industrial development around Elizabeth, Colorado.

About the project

The problem

Commercial and industrial development was expanding around Elizabeth, Colorado.

A metropolitan district needed a new waterline extension to serve that growth and to add capacity for rising demand.

The pathway

MES led the design. The project covered the design and installation of about 4,600 feet of new 10-inch HDPE waterline.

MES developed the detailed design and the technical specifications for the new main, to match the district's standards and operating requirements.

MES designed the plan set. It showed the line in plan and profile, from station 1+00 to 47+00. It carried standard details for fire hydrants, valve boxes, polyethylene wrap, trace wire, concrete kickblocks, valve marker posts, and air release and vacuum relief valves.

It also covered erosion control, with silt fence, vehicle tracking control and seeding, and temporary traffic control for one-lane, two-way traffic during pipe work along the road.

During construction, MES provided ongoing engineering support. The team made site visits, reviewed contractor submittals and addressed technical issues.

The result

The district gained about 4,600 feet of new 10-inch HDPE main, designed to its standards, with the design team supporting the work in the field.

The extension gives the area reliable water service for future growth and adds capacity to meet increasing demand.
