About the project
The problem
Mountain Water and Sanitation District in Conifer, Colorado needed upgrades to its drinking water plant to meet current and future needs.
Its sewer and water lines were aging. The district needed to prioritize line replacements, quantify its water losses and identify inflow and infiltration (I&I) problems.
The pathway
At the plant, MES designed SCADA upgrades for monitoring and control, replacement booster pumps, and new filters and turbidity meters.
MES prepared the plans and specifications and provided construction oversight, working with the district and the contractors.
For the lines, MES analyzed district data to identify water losses and I&I. MES also wrote a capital improvement plan to set priorities for the upgrades.
MES supported the district with grant applications to help fund the work and ease the load on local budgets.
The line work covers the rehabilitation and replacement of 40,000 feet of sewer and water line. MES prepared the plans and specifications for it.
The result
Photos from July and December 2020 show the new turbidity analyzer giving readings in the plant's treatment building.
December 2020 photos also show a booster pump with a variable frequency drive in the same building.
The district has a capital improvement plan that ranks its sewer and water line work by priority. It helps the district plan upgrades and manage its resources.
