Town of Hayden water model, I&I analysis and grant plans

MES built an EPANET water model for the Town of Hayden, wrote a year-end memo with an I&I analysis, and drew RAISE grant plan sheets with quantities.

About the project

The problem

The Town of Hayden, Colorado, needed engineering help on two water issues: tracking water losses, and reducing infiltration and inflow (I&I) in its aging sewer collection system.

The town also had RAISE grant work that called for plan sheets, and a new development to review.

The pathway

MES started in October 2024 by building an EPANET model of the town's water system. In November the team reviewed the town's water and sewer data and worked on a water demand report.

The team then wrote a year-end memo for the town, with an I&I analysis of the sewer system. MES finished the memo in December 2024.

In January 2025, over two weeks, MES drew preliminary site and street plan sheets for Lincoln Street and Poplar Street, with a bill of quantities, for the RAISE grant work.

MES reported on the new development in December 2024. In June 2025 it reviewed the development and updated the model for it.

In the fall of 2025 the team marked up PDFs showing the town's high-use residential water users, and went back to the EPANET model. It reviewed the sewer system's I&I in November 2025 and mapped it in January 2026.

The result

MES built an EPANET model of the town's water system and kept updating it as the work went on. Model and review work continued in August and September 2026.

The work also produced a year-end memo with an I&I analysis and RAISE grant plan sheets with quantities.
