What we do in Texas

Water and wastewater engineering in Corpus Christi

MES provides water and wastewater engineering for development in Corpus Christi and the Coastal Bend.

We design water and sewer extensions, lift stations and force mains. For sites the city system cannot reach, we design package treatment plants and prepare the TCEQ permit application.

We also do site civil work and support projects through construction.

How permitting and review work in Corpus Christi

Corpus Christi Water runs the city's water and wastewater systems. New mains that join the city system follow its standards and go through city plan review.

A private plant that discharges needs a TPDES permit from TCEQ. TCEQ sets the permit limits to protect the water that receives the flow.

Near the coast, that water is often a coastal creek or a bay, such as Oso Creek or Oso Bay. The limits depend on that water body, so we check them before we size a plant.

Some sites can avoid a discharge. A site with an industrial wastewater stream and a workable reuse plan may qualify for a TCEQ Chapter 210 reuse authorization.

Land outside the city limits also goes through county review.

Work in Corpus Christi

MES prepared the civil site plans for a drive-up water kiosk site in Corpus Christi. It is one site in a multi-site kiosk program that runs across seven states. Read more about our kiosk site planning.

Common questions

Should my project connect to Corpus Christi Water or build its own plant?

Connect when you can. A city connection is usually simpler to permit and to run. If the nearest main is far away or full, we compare an extension with a private plant before you commit.

What do you need to start?

A site location, the planned use and the size of the development. Call (214) 833-6748 or send us a message.
